What Is Full-Frame Window Replacement?

When upgrading the windows in your Tampa home, you generally have two installation options: insert (pocket) replacement or full-frame replacement. At CAVU Design & Construction, we highly recommend and specialize in full-frame window replacement.

Insert vs. Full-Frame

Insert Replacement: The contractor leaves the original window frame and trim intact and simply slides a new window into the existing opening. While this is faster and slightly cheaper, it reduces the visible glass area and relies on the old frame's integrity.

Full-Frame Replacement: The entire window is removed down to the rough opening—the original frame, sashes, and exterior/interior trim are completely torn out. A brand new window, complete with its own frame, is installed directly into the home's structural studs.
