How Long Does Window Replacement Take?
When homeowners in Tampa decide to upgrade to impact-resistant windows, they often wonder how long their house will be under construction. The actual installation is surprisingly fast, but the preparation and ordering phase takes time.
The Ordering and Permitting Phase (4 to 8 Weeks)
This is the longest part of the process. Because every home is different, high-quality impact windows are custom-manufactured to fit your exact rough openings perfectly.
Once we measure your home, the order goes to the manufacturer. Depending on supply chain factors and the specific brand, manufacturing takes 4 to 8 weeks. During this waiting period, we submit the necessary paperwork to Hillsborough County or the City of Tampa to secure your window replacement permits.
The Installation Phase (1 to 3 Days)
Once the windows arrive and permits are in hand, the actual installation is very quick.
For an average-sized Tampa home (10 to 15 windows), our professional crew can typically complete the tear-out and installation in 1 to 2 days. We work systematically, removing and replacing one window at a time, so your home is never left exposed to the elements overnight.
If we are doing a full-frame replacement where we need to repair wood rot or replace exterior trim, the process might stretch to 3 days.
The Final Inspection
After the installation is complete, a county inspector must visit your home to verify that the windows were installed according to Florida's strict wind mitigation codes. Once passed, your project is officially complete, and your home is secure.
